Led by coaches Brian Kearney and Shaun McGee, the Mahopac Unified flag football team hosted the Carmel Rams for their first home game of the season. Athletes from both teams brought their energy and enthusiasm to the matchup, while a spirited crowd of students, cheerleaders, staff and fellow athletes turned the game into a celebration of the entire school community.
The day was a reminder of what makes Unified athletics so meaningful. The competition brought out the best in both teams, and the support from the sidelines made every play and accomplishment worth celebrating.
“Unified sports create opportunities for students to compete, build relationships and experience the joy of being part of a team,” Mahopac’s director of health, physical education and athletics, Steve Luciana, said. “Seeing our athletes give their all on the field, with so much support from their classmates and community, is what this program is all about. The enthusiasm and sportsmanship from both Mahopac and Carmel made this a special day for everyone involved.”
