Superintendent Vincent DiGrandi continues building on Mahopac Central School District's leadership team with two administrative appointments designed to strengthen student opportunities from the earliest years of learning through middle school.
At a special meeting on July 30, the board of education approved the appointment of longtime Mahopac Middle School Principal Tom Cozzocrea as the executive director of technology and Falls School operations, a newly expanded role that will also include oversight of the district’s Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program. Anthony Muia, currently assistant principal at Mahopac Middle School, has been appointed principal of the middle school, succeeding Cozzocrea after his nearly decade of leadership.
Together, the appointments reflect the district's commitment to strong leadership, continuous improvement and creating exceptional opportunities for students at every stage of their educational journey.
During his nine years as principal of Mahopac Middle School, Cozzocrea has earned a reputation for collaborative leadership and thoughtful decision-making that support both students and staff. In his new role, he will oversee district technology and Falls School operations including UPK, working across departments to strengthen the districtwide systems that allow students, staff and schools to thrive.
The addition of UPK to Cozzocrea's responsibilities reflects one of DiGrandi's highest priorities: strengthening early childhood education and building a strong foundation in literacy. By connecting leadership across Falls School operations, technology and early learning, the district is investing in the resources and systems that help students develop the skills they need from their very first day of school.
“Tom has a unique ability to bring people together, improve systems and keep student success at the center of every decision,” DiGrandi said. “As we continue building on Mahopac’s tradition of excellence, I know Tom's leadership will strengthen the work happening across our schools.”
Throughout his career, Cozzocrea has led initiatives that expanded academic programming and improved organizational systems. His experience managing complex school operations, supporting staff development and implementing districtwide initiatives positions him well to lead a department that touches every classroom and every student.
He said he looks forward to partnering with the district’s experienced and outstanding technology team to continue enhancing the systems that support teaching and learning while helping prepare students for the opportunities and careers of tomorrow.

Cozzocrea's appointment creates an opportunity for Muia to lead Mahopac Middle School after serving as assistant principal. During his time in the building, Muia has become a familiar and trusted presence among students, staff and families, emphasizing visibility, collaboration and strong relationships while supporting teaching and learning.
As principal, Muia said he looks forward to building on the school's strong foundation by fostering a culture of high expectations, meaningful relationships and opportunities for every student to grow academically, socially and emotionally.
