Several Mahopac Middle School students recently participated in the Westchester Regional Middle School Science and Engineering Fair held at Edgemont High School, showcasing their hard work and scientific research alongside students from across the region.
Students representing Mahopac included Kayla Batista, Alonso Ibarra, Madison Lagoa, Evelyn Polanco, Cora Ramahlo and Aurora VanOrsdale.
“Being at the fair was truly inspiring,” Mahopac Middle School science teacher Margaret Fox said. “It was amazing to hear our students speak, not just as learners but as researchers. They reminded me that while the data is in the charts, the real breakthrough is the incredible professionalism and passion in the presenters themselves.”
Several students also earned recognition from the judges for their projects. Ibarra and Ramahlo each received third-place awards in the Environmental Earth Sciences category, while Polanco earned third place in Medicine and Health Sciences. VanOrsdale was awarded second place in the Biochemistry category.
“We are incredibly proud of all of our students for the time, effort and creativity they put into their projects,” Mahopac Middle School science teacher Kelly Kischak said. “Participating in a regional competition like this is a tremendous accomplishment, and it was wonderful to see their hard work recognized.”
Congratulations to all the students on an outstanding job representing Mahopac Middle School.
