Students Celebrate Women’s History Month With Door Display Project

In honor of Women’s History Month, members of the Rho Kappa Social Studies National Honor Society at Mahopac High School transformed the doors of the school’s social studies department into colorful tributes to influential women who have helped shape history.

Working in small groups, students researched notable women and designed creative door displays highlighting their lives, accomplishments and lasting impact. The project encouraged students to explore figures from a range of fields while sharing their stories with the broader school community.

Among those honored were local Revolutionary War heroine Sybil Ludington, artist Frida Kahlo, beloved actress and comedian Betty White and pioneering scientist Marie Curie. Through their displays, students highlighted the diverse ways women have influenced history, art, entertainment and science.

The project was coordinated by social studies teachers and Rho Kappa co-advisers Kelly Harper and Andrea Whalen, who said the activity gave students a creative way to engage with Women’s History Month.

“We are proud of our members for their creativity and hard work in honoring women throughout the month of March,” Whalen said.

The displays will remain up throughout March, offering students and staff an opportunity to learn more about the remarkable women whose achievements continue to inspire future generations.
