Mahopac Central School District is proud to announce that Alison Ortiz, a junior at Mahopac High School, is the winner of the school’s art contest to design the official district Financial Literacy Seal. Ortiz created the seal as part of art teacher Sean Flanagan’s computer graphics and animation class. The seal will be placed on the diplomas of students who earn this distinction, symbolizing their achievement in personal financial literacy and the district’s commitment to preparing students with essential real-world life skills.
Ortiz was recognized for her achievement during halftime of a recent varsity boys basketball game, where Mahopac Board of Education president Michael Mongon and trustee Tanner McCracken spoke about the district’s financial literacy initiative, announced the contest winner and unveiled the design on the gymnasium scoreboard. Superintendent of Schools Frank Miele noted that the Financial Literacy Seal reflects the district’s focus on equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed financial decisions and plan for successful futures.
