Mahopac welcomes new teachers and staff to the district

Mahopac Central School District began the 2025-2026 school year with a two-day orientation for new teachers and professional employees. The program provided staff members with an opportunity to connect with colleagues, learn about the district, and build a trusted network of professional support.

“We are thrilled to welcome such an outstanding group of new employees to the Mahopac family,” Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Jennifer Pontillo said. “The orientation provided essential information and resources that will help them hit the ground running and make an immediate impact for our students.”

Day one focused on community-building and familiarizing staff with the MCSD learning environment. Mahopac Administrator for Safety and Security Troy Bilyeu and Director of Technology Benjamin August gave presentations, while K–12 Health Coordinator and High School Health Education Teacher Valarie Nierman highlighted the importance of relationships in education.

On day two, participants continued exploring district systems, engaged in mentor-focused activities and spent additional time with their assigned mentor and MTA colleagues. Pontillo provided a detailed overview of policies and procedures to help ease their transition into the district. The orientation concluded with building tours and team-building exercises.

The program reflected the district’s commitment to supporting staff as they begin their careers in Mahopac and ensuring a strong start for every student.
