Mahopac Fourth Graders Use 'First In Math'

Mahopac fourth graders are strengthening their math skills through the First In Math program. The digital platform transforms learning into a game-based experience, offering evidence-based activities that help students practice essential skills while building both competence and confidence.

From addition and subtraction to more advanced concepts, First In Math allows students to work at their own pace, progressively challenging themselves as they improve.

“It’s really fun,” Lakeview Elementary fourth grader Charlotte Catalli said. “I like that you can learn more facts faster and race against your friends.”

Teachers say the program has been a powerful addition to classroom instruction.

“First In Math gives students a chance to apply what they’ve learned in a fun and motivating way,” Lakeview fourth grade teacher Don Triebel said. “The more they practice, the more confident they become, and that confidence shows up in their classwork too.”

By making math engaging and interactive, First In Math is helping Mahopac students develop strong foundational skills while also discovering that learning can be both productive and fun.
