BOE Appoints Superintendent of Schools

The Mahopac Central School District Board of Education has appointed Vince DiGrandi as the district’s next superintendent of schools. A Mahopac High School graduate and former district administrator, DiGrandi returns to the community with a strong background in educational leadership and a deep connection to Mahopac.

DiGrandi, a 1989 graduate of Mahopac High School, previously served as principal of Mahopac Middle School from 2013 to 2017. Most recently, he served as principal in the North Salem Central School District, where he led a 6–12 campus, overseeing budget and staffing while supporting high levels of student achievement, including a graduation rate of 96–98% and national recognition for the high school.

“Our district is in a strong position and we are confident that Mr. DiGrandi will build on our success and lead us into an even brighter future,” Board of Education President Michael Mongon said. “He brings a deep sense of integrity and perseverance to this role, qualities that align with the values of our community. We are delighted and honored to welcome him back to our school district as our next superintendent and we look forward to the leadership and vision he will bring in the years ahead.”

DiGrandi brings a broad range of experience to the role, including prior service as principal at Fishkill Plains Elementary School in the Wappingers Central School District, where he earned recognition from the New York State PTA for innovative literacy programming. Earlier in his career, he taught first and fifth grades in Westport, Connecticut. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University, a master’s degree from Fairfield University and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in administration from Sacred Heart University. In 2025, he was named Administrator of the Year by the Empire State Supervisors and Administrators organization.

“I am deeply honored to be appointed Superintendent of Mahopac Schools, a district and community that has shaped who I am today,” DiGrandi said. “Mahopac has been my home as a student, resident and administrator and it is a privilege to give back to the district that gave me so much.”

During his previous tenure in Mahopac, DiGrandi expanded opportunities for students by enhancing college and career programming at the middle school level and establishing the district’s first middle school health fair. His leadership has consistently focused on creating supportive learning environments while preparing students for success beyond the classroom.

“My leadership is focused on success for all students and grounded in collaboration, transparency and innovation while maintaining an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and strong relationships,” DiGrandi said. “In a time of constant change in education, I look forward to the work ahead with our students, dedicated staff and community partners. I hold myself to the highest standards of integrity and excellence, and I am committed to leading with purpose and pride as I serve the Mahopac community.”

Board of Education Vice President Lucy Massafra expressed her enthusiasm for the announcement.

“With the appointment of Mr. DiGrandi as our Superintendent we turn the page and reaffirm our commitment to our students and our community,” Massafra said. “Welcome home Vince.”

Superintendent of Schools Frank Miele agreed.

“Mahopac is in capable hands with Vince as its next superintendent,” Miele said. “He is a leader who shows up, listens and leads with both heart and principle. This role is well earned and I have no doubt he will continue to lead with the same integrity and strength that have defined his journey.”

The board of education looks forward to working with DiGrandi as he begins his tenure and continues the district’s commitment to excellence in education.
