Austin Road Elementary School debuted an exciting new summer program for second through fifth graders – The Crafty Kitchen camp. The hands-on program blended the creativity of arts and crafts with hands-on cooking.
From the first day, the campers enthusiastically jumped into a variety of activities. In the kitchen, they made treats, from “edible soil” made with chocolate pudding, cookie crumbs and gummy worms, to homemade butter, s'mores, nachos and edible mosaic.
In the craft room, the campers designed colorful suncatchers, crafted bracelets and made unique candleholders that doubled as night lights. The camp’s atmosphere was filled with collaboration, curiosity and excitement as the students developed new skills and expressed their personalities through both crafts and cooking.
