COVID-19 PROTOCOLS FOR FACILITIES
The Mahopac Central School District uses a variety of facilities/venues for its home and away contests. For instance, in the sports of Indoor Track and Field, Skiing, Bowling, Ice Hockey, and Gymnastics, non-district owned facilities/venues are the primary location for competitions and practices. Such facilities/venues have specific COVID-19 protocols and practices that the District must abide by in order to use the facility/venue. Additionally, with the COVID-19 situation being fluid, facilities/venues may alter their practices at any point during the season. In order to best position all Mahopac student athletes and teams to be able to compete, we strongly recommend that you plan and prepare for all facilities/venues to require the COVID-19 vaccine.
For example, the venue that may conduct most of, if not all of, the Winter Indoor Track and Field competitions is The Armory in New York City. As you may be aware, Section One has utilized The Armory as an Indoor Track and Field facility/venue for many years and will again this year. If your child would like to participate on the Indoor Track and Field team, the COVID-19 guidelines for The Armory are:
"Effective Tuesday, August 17 and in accordance with New York City law, The Armory will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter the building. Visitors ages 12 and older (eligible to receive the vaccine) will need to present proof of at least one dose of the vaccine. Acceptable forms of proof of vaccinations should include their name. Visitors should also be sure to bring another form of identification to verify the name on their vaccination record."
The link to The Armory's guidelines for entering the facility can be found at:
As other non-district owned facilities/venues or Section One provide the District with specific COVID-19 guidelines, we will do our best to communicate such information to the respective programs.
